Toyota FT-1 Concept Car - The Toyota Supra entered into the market in the late 70's, when Toyota stuffed a six-cylinder engine in the Mustang-Fighter Celica. The result? The Supra went on to grow into a race ready turbo charged sports car that was even offered with a Super Bee looking rear wing in the mid 90's, only to disappear as the market shifted. One could argue that much of Toyota's success has been derived building everyday cars that delivered appliance-like dependability -- an exquisite taste of vanilla if you will. As history proves once-again, auto builders need to push the level of excitement to drive buyers into the showroom. So when Toyota boss, Akio Toyoda challenged his Calty Design Research Team to build a concept that would take Toyota's design into the future, the FT-1 was created in Frankenstein fashion.
